Michael and I have just wrapped up our first full week back at work after our trip to England. We spent five days exploring the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, followed by five days taking in the sights of London. The experience was wonderful, but we found ourselves missing home more than expected. In a surprising twist, we even ran into one of our amazing MassageFIX clients on our flight from Heathrow—a true small world moment! If you’re curious about our daily escapades—from falcons and quirky cab drivers to black pudding, the crown jewels, knee mishaps, and memorable dinners with friends—check out Melissa’s personal Facebook page. It was truly an adventure we’ll never forget. Now that we are back, we have turned our focus back to our clients and staff. Cyndi, Noe, and Jenna held the fort very well while we were away, and we are very appreciative. They don’t often see Michael and me take so much time off, so this was new for all of us.
What’s Coming Next?
It looks like Jenna, our newest massage therapist, is working hard on her basic cupping skills and beginning her MediCupping™ classes. I think we’ve convinced her that there is no better adjunct therapy in the massage world for her clients….well, maybe Tok Sen too. Anyway, she’s excited about it. Noe is considering learning Kinesio Taping, and since he is a really great Sports Massage Therapist, it fits him perfectly. Michael is considering heading to Virginia in August to learn Forearm Fusion – another deep technique taught by one of our friends who just happened to have earned the title of #4 Sports Massage Therapist in the world at the 2023 World Massage Championship. I will be finishing up my continuing education on the Advanced Graston Technique® (muscle scraping). The textbook is dauntingly huge – this may take me a year. All of that to say, we are committed to growing our skills for our clients – the more we know, the more we can do for you!
Who’s Coming Next?
Over the last few months, I’ve visited the massage school student clinic (BMI, downtown BG) and gotten a massage from students who are about to graduate. There are actually quite a few promising candidates. They’ve recently visited MassageFIX, and I’ve encouraged them to apply for a job/career once they have passed their national boards and received their state licenses. So far, we’ve employed three BMI students (Michael, Barbara, and Jenna). We think that MassageFIX is a great place for a new LMT to begin their career. We teach and expect a more advanced form of clinical massage and professionalism than is typical at most spa-type massage places. Now, that’s not for everyone – but us, type-A, gotta-solve-the-pain-problem therapists, really need this type of environment to thrive. We’re the real massage-geeks on the block, and we’re suspender-snapping proud of it. Say a little prayer that we’re the right fit for a few of these new therapists. We’ve got more clients than we can service, and we need more good therapists.
Stay tuned…
So, with all of that said, we are looking forward to growth and excitement at MassageFIX in the coming months. I’ll try to keep up this blog and the emails since so many of you really like them. Thanks again for being the best clients in BG ❤️
